What you've always wanted to know about men

Annual survey reveals men's trends

If you have ever wondered what goes on in the minds of men, a popular men's lifestyle website gives you plenty of food for thought in their recently released 2011 Great Male Survey.

AskMen.com's study sheds light on how many modern men think and behave in 2011. Over 70,000 men answered over 100 questions about everything ranging from lifestyle details to their opinion about the state of the nation. My favorite part is their disclosures about their attitudes concerning dating and sex.

AskMen.com's readers tend to be young pofessional men. I wonder if the results would be the same if the majority of men who responded were of a different generation.

Here is a list of what I considered to be the most interesting results.

Attraction:

  • 16% believe that women never start losing their looks. 16% believe that a woman's appearance starts fading at 30. 40% think that 40 is when her beauty begins to decline.
  • When a man is deciding if a woman is relationship material, he considers that her most important trait to be:
    • 34% a sense of loyalty.
    • 25% her sense of humor.
    • 22% caring and nurturing.
    • 19% intelligence

Dating:

  • 50% would feel uncomfortable dating a woman who has kids.
  • 45% think it's bad idea to date someone from the workplace, but 56% would have sex with a coworker.
  • Only 22% of men expect a woman to pay equally for dates.
  • 33% have used Internet dating sites to get a date. 37% wouldn't consider doing so. Everyone else is open to finding love online.

Sex:

  • 77% believe that they can tell if a woman is faking an orgasm.
  • 50% would enlarge their penis if they could. None would make it smaller.
  • 63% would never tell a woman that he loves her in order to get sex.

Relationships:

  • 72% wouldn't cheat on a partner, no matter what.
  • 72% are motivated to be romantic in order to feel closer to their partner. 18% behave amorously to increase the possibility of having sex. 1% do it in order to get a personal favor.
  • 85% have no problem entering a relationship if the woman has a higher income than he does.

Breakups:

  • 53% would dump a girlfriend if she became fat.
  • 48% would not break up with someone just because she wasn't wife material.

And for those of you who are wondering why he texts rather than calls

  • 53% use their phone most for texting.
