Maureen Dowd's most recent New York Times article, "An Ideal Husband" talks about “how to dodge mates who would maul your happiness.” I loved this article about avoiding falling in love with someone who is not good marriage material, and how it is key to happiness.
Ever wonder why we long for love? Helen Fisher’s amazing talk on Ted.com talk “The Brain in Love," discusses what really happens inside our head when we’re in love. She’s an anthropologist who is best known as an expert on romantic love. She studies gender differences and the evolution of human emotions. In this talk, she talks about a research project where she and her team took MRIs of people in love -- and people who had just been dumped. Guess what? Feeling "needy" is part of our biology! Her video is fascinating.

For a fun way to meet other singles, check out Quiz Dates. It's a fun team trivia quiz, which is a great no-pressure way to meet singles. Teams are comprised of women and men who answer the questions that are fired by the Emcee and fun prizes are awarded to the top scoring teams. They mix up the teams after each round of questions and you'll meet everyone in the room. Quiz topics include Pop Culture, General Knowledge, Music, Photos of Famous People and Entertainment. At the moment, it's mostly a younger crowd. However, starting in October, monthly mid-life events will be starting. Stay tuned for more info.
Do you wish that you could dance, but feel like you will never "get it"? Laurie Ann Lepoff teaches private dance lessons especially suited for people who have trouble keeping up in regular classes.
