What Does a Woman Want? PDF Print E-mail

Annie,

A quote that caught my eye.
"The great question, which I have not been able to answer, is, What does
a woman want?"
Sigmund Freud

Well now I don't feel so badly, if Freud couldn't figure it out, I'm not in
such bad company. Now you're a woman, but do you know what you - and they -
want? I find they themselves don't know, and if they think they do, they are
deluding themselves and/or they keep, without telling anybody, changing their
mind. Maybe it's unknowable.

Men should just give and take what they want from a relationship, and if it
works for her fine, and if not she'll go elsewhere.

I'm attractive, intelligent, retired from the tech industry -- and I'm a great dancer! Any words of wisdom?

Richard

I love this question.

It depends on the woman. Most of us know what we want. (Since you asked - I know. And I change my mind from time to time. No delusions here!) After all, things around us change, and we change to adapt to changing situations or perceptions. It sounds like it's a matter of communication.

OK, Richard, let's look at you. Do you know what you want? Do you ever change your mind about what you want? When you've changed your mind, how did you communicate that to those around you?

Many people have trouble being honest with a prospective or actual partner. Sometimes, it's at a time in a relationship - too early, for example, when they're getting to know someone and they may not know what they want with that particular person. In order not to "rock the boat", they say what they think that the other person wants to hear. This strategy often backfires - expectations for future interactions get based on that mis-information. Many people feel embarrassed to ask important questions, especially those that concern sexuality, relationship status, intimacy and future plans.

In order to know what's going on with any potential (or current) love-interest, always ask direct questions, feel free to answer truthfully - say "I'm not sure" if that's the case - be honest about the details. If they don't like it, it gives them real choices. And if they do like it - guess what? You've got a much better potential for a good relationship with that person.

There's more to this, but that's all for now -

Good luck finding the woman who won't make you wonder...

Karl Jung had an answer to this question, What does a women want? She wants to have her way with men.

I would add that the important point is having her way, not the specifics of what she is having her eway about.
